I shopped at Trader’s for a year or two before I *really* discovered just how good it really is. I loved it so much already for its delicious food, and I was mostly always shopping it with my two tiny kiddos in tow. Frankly, I was trying to get the heck outta there as quickly as I could!
But then, I went there once or twice without said kiddos, and everything changed. Flowers that are inexpensive AND gorgeous? Why hadn’t I noticed? Body butters and face serums that were under $10, and even under FIVE DOLLARS?! I slowed that shopping cart right the heck down. And then, I *really* shopped Traders for the first time ever.
So, I am sharing my non-food TJs faves here with you today. If you haven’t REALLY perused Trader Joe’s, be prepared to fall in love with it all over again.
Shea Butter + Coconut Oil Hair Mask: This stuff is SO good. It’s a whopping $4, but feels and acts more like a $40 conditioner. I have tried this on wet hair, and even straight on dry hair before shampooing, and it is amazing every single time! I have oily hair and can still use this twice a week and not be weighed-down. It helps immensely with tangles, split ends, and overly-processed, dried out hair.
Little Tin Candles: Not their technical name, I am sure, but that’s what I call these cuties. For $4, these fill our entire house with delicious scents like Sweet Lemon Cookie (my fave), Mango Tangerine, Pumpkin, and Gingerbread (just to name a few!). Tip: TJ’s candles are seasonal, so if you find one you can’t live without, stock up!
Mineral Sunscreen Stick: We love a good sunscreen stick in our house! It makes applying sunscreen to the crevices of tiny faces so much simpler than a goopy lotion. I like this one a lot because it is water-resistant, PABA-free, and an SPF 50. It also is a nice thick formula that rubs on easily and goes really far. For $5, I dig it.
Coconut Body Butter: Holy delicious. This tub-o-yum is my all-time favorite from TJ’s beauty section. I just haven’t found anything like it! Not only does it smell amazing (it actually smells better once it dries than when first applied), but it actually moisturizes and is even gentle enough to apply on my kiddos with sensitive skin. Win-Win! It’s $5, and worth every single penny. TJ’s also makes seasonal scents, like Warm Vanilla and Pumpkin, but my go-to is always the coconut. The scent isn’t overly sweet. More like a “fresh and clean” type smell. I promise you won’t regret trying it out!
French Hand Soap: Love the smell, love the feel, love the pretty and decorative bottle. At $4, its a bit of a splurge compared to my $1 hand wash bottles I pick up at Target (or the big ol’ refill bottles from Costco), but I love to treat myself (and my hands) to it every now and again!
Greenery + Florals: It’s no secret that TJ’s has super affordable and GORGEOUS greenery and florals. It’s my go-to when spring rolls around and I want some fresh stems on my kitchen counter. There is never a shortage of beautiful arrangements, or even small bundles that you can arrange yourself. Oftentimes, I pick up a bundle or two of their $3 greenery -eucalyptus, etc – and, with the right care, they’ll last several weeks or even MONTHS.
Potted Plants: For many of the same reasons I love the greenery and florals from TJ’s, I also love their potted plants! Even better, though, is that these babies last and get to stay a part of your home (as long as you take good care of them)! I have gotten several plants from TJ’s, and I find that they thrive better than a lot of mine that came from the big box stores. Their plants range from $5-$10 and oftentimes come with a pretty ceramic pot, too. How do you do it, Traders?!
Refresh Citrus Body Wash with Vitamin C: I LOVE how this stuff smells, how it’s light, and non-drying. At $4, the price-point pretty much seals the deal for me! It smells like fresh oranges, but not perfume-y at all. I love that it cleans and doesn’t leave a film. For a sensitive-skinned gal like myself, I am all about it.
Antioxidant Facial Serum: I have never found anything that does what this does for my skin, and I especially have not found it for $8. Yes, EIGHT DOLLARS. The pump is really nice for controlling how much product comes out, and the product itself is wonderful on my sensitive skin. I find that on the nights I forget to use this, my redness the next day is FAR more noticable. My skin seems to just really love this formula.
Grapefruit Hand Sani Spray: This is a newer product, and at just $2, it was an impulse buy that I had to try. And, guess what? I’m crazy about it and have bought it again and again since then! I keep it in my purse and my kiddos use it all the time while we are out and about. I like that it smells refreshing and isn’t harsh or too drying like many of the gel hand sanitizers. Another win, Trader Joe’s!
